Mistakes Made By Fresher Job Seekers

Many students end up being desperate and choosing the wrong job. Here are some tips that you can follow so that you avoid making the wrong choices.
#1: Don’t Mass Apply On Job Sites and Hope for the Best
I see a lot of students making the same mistake. They just go to some job site, register for an account, upload their resume and apply for as many jobs as possible. Then they sit back and hope they’ll land an interview call.
Now, I am not saying that you shouldn’t apply for as many jobs as possible. But let’s think from the perspective of the person who receives your application, shall we?
You are a recruiter, and you are receiving hundreds of job applications each day. How are you supposed to shortlist a few candidates on a limited time? The easier you make it clear that you are the right candidate, the better your chances of getting an interview call. So the best way to land an interview call is to optimize the resume you send in.
#2: Applying To Jobs In Your City Only
I know how enticing it will be to work close to your home. But what you must realize is that you might not get the best opportunity if you are limiting your area of work. These days all jobs require you to be pretty much highly flexible. If you say that you want to work in one location only, employers might see it as a negative point.
#3: Applying To the Wrong Jobs
Are you a mechanical engineer and applying for IT jobs? That doesn’t seem to be a good fit. If you are applying for jobs not related to your field of study or previous experience, make sure that you include a cover letter explaining clearly why you are choosing to work in a different field. This reassures employers that they are not recruiting the wrong candidates.
#4: Not Following Up With Interviews
Did you get an interview call? Great! But are you following up after your interview? You might think that the battle is almost won. No, not quite yet. You need to follow up after your interview. Even if you did not shine during the interview time, you will come across as a dedicated person who’s really interested in working with the company. More points to you!
